Charter Aristotle Onassis's legendary yacht that's played host to countless famous and influential figures in history
The legendary luxury yacht of Aristotle Onassis, Christina O, has always been in the limelight and has entertained some of the world’s most famous, powerful, and influential people, including Sir Winston Churchill, Marilyn Monroe, John F. Kennedy, Jackie Kennedy (who would later become Onassis’s wife), and Frank Sinatra, to name a few.
Following Aristotle Onassis’s death, he left the boat to Jackie and his daughter Christina. After the pair fell out, it was gifted to the Greek state before being abandoned and submerged.
In 1999, an 18-month rebuild to restore this truly iconic yacht to its former glory commenced. With the interior styling by Apostolos Molindris & Associates, retaining the fantastic sense of comfort and opulence with many original items from her early days when she was regularly reported in international news. In 2022, she underwent another refit.
She is now one of the few charter yachts that is capable of international cruising with up to 36 passengers, making this an ideal charter yacht for large families and friends groups, wedding anniversaries, and corporate events, to name a few suggestions. This 99m yacht from Canadian Vickers has 17 cabins, making it a perfect choice for those looking to travel with larger groups.
In the most recent refit, Christina O saw some major changes and the addition of perfectly restored artefacts that set sail with the ship all those years ago.
On the main deck is the Lapis Lounge, which has elements of a classic English country manor. The lounge gets its namesake from the lapis fireplace, which has remained all these years. You can very easily recreate the photo of Aristotle leaning against it if you want to feel like you’re standing in the footsteps of the Greek shipping magnate.
The touches of character continue throughout her impressive lounging and dining spaces. From the music room with a Steinway piano, which has played host to performances from some of the greats, to the library, which also doubles as a peaceful office space should you require somewhere to catch up on some work.
The saloon has three separate seating areas, ideal for when guests want to spread out, or it can also be used as a cinema, or if you’d prefer to tap into the full Onassis experience, it can also be used as a ballroom. With its state-of-the-art sound system, no matter how you prefer to use it, you’ll be able to enjoy fantastic quality music.
Her huge deck spaces include everything you might need to enjoy your time on board, be it lounging or socialising. The original mosaic-tiled swimming pool remains, with the Minoan bull and vaulter set within it, which can be raised to form a dance floor on the main deck.
Head up to the compass deck, the top level, to enjoy the chaise longues, and bar, or visit the aft spa pool before enjoying alfresco dining. Caesar Pinnau’s design work here is truly timeless, considering it was done in the early fifties.
Head into Ari’s Bar and grab a daiquiri, which might have been John F. Kennedy’s order when he first met Winston Churchill in this famed bar. It retains a large amount of the original features too. Consider asking the crew what the bar stool is upholstered with when sipping your drink - Aristotle divulged it to Greta Garbo when she asked.
Prepare for an incredible sleep in the Onassis Suite, which stretches from the forward part of the bridge deck. The large sleeping quarters also have a marble bathroom and study, which would keep any bibliophile happy. There’s also the beautiful original onyx fireplace.
The remainder of the accommodation includes 10 double staterooms and eight convertible cabins, all of which have been designed to exceptionally high standards and all encapsulate the opulence associated with the time when the boat was first delivered.
The yacht's Head Chef produces Michelin Star standard cuisine and is assisted by the Pastry Chef to create fabulous desserts. There is also a Sushi Master and expert in Asian and Japanese cuisine on board. If wine is something you want to enjoy, there is a wine expert available as part of the Christina O team.
When you’re looking for other things to do outside of enjoying the Jacuzzi, games room, gym, or the beauty spa, then spend some time enjoying the vast selection of water toys on offer from Christina O. From the waterslide to the jet skis and kayaks, there are plenty of aquatic adventures awaiting you aboard this iconic yacht.
Christina O has twin MAN engines allowing her to cruise comfortably at 15 knots, but she can reach a maximum speed of 19 knots and travel 5,000 nautical miles. The onboard stabilisation system allows for a comfortable journey, and her full-displacement hull keeps her stable at anchor. Christina O has a steel hull and aluminium superstructure.
