The Carnaval de Nice has been captivating the French Rivera for 151 years and this year is no exception, prepare for the dazzling floats and flower battles as the King of Pop Culture invites you to witness the streets of Nice become a spectacle of music, dance and the larger-than-life floats.
Starting February 17th and running until March 3rd the beautiful city of Nice bids the winter goodbye and welcomes in the spring with pure joy. This year the Carnival’s theme is pop culture, prepare to experience a cornucopia of media, cinema, sports, literary works, comics and music with bold graphics and saturated colours.
The Corso carnivalesque is one of the main events as the streets fill up with the beautifully crafted papier-mâché figures that truly capture the eye, you can enjoy the Daytime parades where you can see the majestic floats and the intricate detail, then in the evening the streets transform in the “Parade of Lights” where the streets come alive with vibrant colours.
You won’t want to miss the Bataille de Fleurs, a unique experience where attendees exchange thousands of mimosa blooms. Floats covered with beautiful flowers pass through the streets with the fragrant flora filling the air with irresistible aromas. Prepare to see delicate costumes, an assortment of colours and fantastic music.
The closing ceremony ends with the incineration of the King on the Quai des États-Unis and a spectacle of fireworks. You can watch the magical skies light up with fireworks or you can get involved and swim at the Opera Beach, be sure to dress up though, everything needs a festive touch at the Carnaval de Nice. Prepare for musical performances, a parade of traditional boats with sailors from La Moutte and a delicious buffet.
