Billionaire Playgrounds – Formula 1 and Superyachts

Each year, Formula 1 and the world of superyachts intersect in two unforgettable destinations: Monaco and Abu Dhabi. Bluemoon's Oliver Bennett explores how racing's ultimate stage meets yachting's finest vantage point.

Formula 1 and superyachts feel synonymous. Both celebrate precision, performance, spectacle and both attract the same crowd. As Formula 1's global prestige has accelerated over the past decade, so too has demand for trackside yacht charters. Watching a Grand Prix from the deck of a yacht isn't simply about proximity to the action, it's about presence. It's where clients, friends and families gather to experience racing's most exclusive vantage point, with superyacht service and setting to match.

Across the Formula 1 calendar, only two circuits in the world offer true trackside berths: Monaco and Abu Dhabi. Two destinations defined by glamour and access, where berthing spots are as coveted as pole position. This scarcity fuels desire; those with the ability to secure a berth join one of the most exclusive clubs in the sporting calendar. Each year, demand intensifies, and with F1 teams hosting onboard hospitality for drivers, sponsors and guests, the marina becomes its own paddock.

Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2025

5 – 7 December 2025

As F1's season finale, Abu Dhabi offers a dramatic close to a long campaign, a place where the sport's intensity reaches its peak before giving way to celebration. It's where teams, drivers and guests converge for one last weekend under the Yas Marina lights. The circuit has hosted many defining moments, including the 2021 showdown between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, which remains one of the most discussed finishes in recent history. The two titans of the sport have both been known to unwind aboard some of the world's finest superyachts, a fitting reflection of Formula 1's shared DNA with yachting.

This year, Bombay, the 50-metre Benetti charter yacht managed by our sister company Bluewater, will be present at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Built in 2016 and extensively refitted in 2023, her amenities suit one of the most star-studded weekends of the year.

With trackside berths in Yas Marina among the most sought-after positions in the world, reservations are typically secured a year in advance. For 2025, all allocations are confirmed, yet opportunities occasionally arise when owners or charterers release their berths. For those looking to join the action, our team can make discreet enquiries to explore private buyouts and late availability. Contact Bluemoon if this is of interest to you.

Monaco Grand Prix 2026

5 – 7 June 2026

Often regarded as the crown jewel of Formula 1, Monaco's narrow streets have staged the sport's most celebrated race since 1929, a contest where victory is usually decided by precision rather than speed. With Prince Albert II presenting the trophy, it remains the race every driver wants to win, and the one every spectator dreams of witnessing up close.

For those planning to host guests, or for companies looking to entertain clients from the aft deck, the race has already begun. Berths are organised at the time of booking and remain among the most limited in the world. Below are a few standout yachts currently available for the Monaco Grand Prix 2026, with ADELA already securing her guaranteed berth for the spectacle:

Charter Yachts For F1: FAQ

What's an APA? The Advanced Provisioning Allowance covers onboard expenses such as food, drink, fuel and fees. It's typically calculated at 35% of the charter rate, though this may vary.

Is VAT avoidable? No. VAT is calculated based on where your charter begins. In Monaco, French VAT applies at 20% on the charter rate only, not the APA.

Are berths guaranteed? Unless a yacht has a confirmed berth at the time of booking, one can only be applied for once a charter contract is signed. In special conditions, the contract may include a clause allowing cancellation without penalty if a berth is not secured.

Are all berths trackside? No, not all are, Yas Marina and Port Hercules each have distinct zones which our team can advise you on positioning and associated costs.

How many guests are allowed onboard? Capacity varies by yacht and registration. Our team will confirm specific numbers before booking.
