A World of Luxury
Julie-Lämpli
Gstaad is one of the most magical places to be, it’s why the famed actor Julie Andrews and her husband, Blake Edwards purchased a chalet there in the 1970s. Andrews adored spending her time there but was saddened to see that during the chilly winter nights, the roofs of the homes would disappear, so she purchased 1,000 Christmas lights for the tourist office, who at the time, didn’t have the budget to afford it, to spread festive cheer. She paid the maintenance of these lights for 12 years which have since become known as Julie-Lämpli. Andrews was honoured with honorary citizenship of Saanen in 2014.
